Earlier this year, we invited the Matamata community to take part in our Photography Competition—calling for images that capture the unique spirit, character, and beauty of our region. The response was incredible, and we’re excited to announce the winning entries!
🏆 Our Winners:
-
Rob & Dale Becker – With two winning shots: the stunning Wairere Falls in full cascade and a delightful image of their happy goats, full of personality.
-
Danilo Mallen-Reyes – For his vibrant and intimate photo of a piwakawaka (fantail), capturing the bird’s playful curiosity.
These standout photos have been incorporated into a brand-new design for our public toilet block wrap, beautifully brought to life by local artist Adam Barton. The wrap is currently in production and will be installed soon—marking the very first visible milestone in the Matamata Domain upgrade as part of Project Play.
