We are excited to share the first draft concept plan for the Matamata Domain Playground upgrade with you, and we would love to know what you think.
Earlier this year we asked what you liked about the current playground and what you wanted to see included in the upgrade. There were loads of great ideas, and we now have a draft concept plan that shows what the playground could look like. Matamata Piako District Council will be out and about at these upcoming events to find out what you think about the plan:
- Thursday, 23 November 3pm – 5.30pm Senior School area Matamata Primary School Gala.
- Saturday, 25 November 10am – 12pm Play Day in the Park Matamata Domain Playground.
- Saturday, 9 December 7.30am – 12.30pm Market and Craft Fair Matamata Primary School.
We’re inviting contributions from you to get involved and join us in delivering this amazing new community space. MPDC have confirmed a generous allocation of $1.5 million towards the project. To create a really special space for our community and take full advantage of this once-in-a-generation opportunity, our concept design will cost more than what Council has committed to the project. To get everything included and reach the higher target, Matamata Futures is now looking to raise additional donations and/or goods and services in kind from the Matamata Piako community to bolster the budget. While $1.5 million may seem like a lot of money, playground equipment, construction costs, safety surfacing and so on are expensive and increasingly so in today’s terms.
Whether you are an individual, family or local business, anyone can contribute. Join us in creating a legacy for our future generations.
Please note: Matamata Futures is an approved charity for tax purposes; individuals who donate over $5 will be able to claim 33.33 cents in tax credits for every dollar you donate. Businesses who donate will be able to claim an income tax deduction for a charitable donation. Sponsorship investment excludes GST. Private and Business donations do not attract GST.
